The Temple Family

My husband loves to vacation at Topsail Beach, NC! I had never been until we were married, and this year made my tenth year vacationing there! Our son, Devin invited friends to come this year and we were blessed to get to spend the week with the Temple Family!

Susan, Andrew and their three kids, Bryson, Sophie and Caed spent the week with us hanging out! My family spends most of the day on the beach, and the only thing that keeps them inside during the day is thunderstorms! We had a lot of those, but, fortunately these guys were still able to get lots of time on the beach!

Sophie loves taking the boogie board out and would spend the entire day in the water with the board if you would let her! Michael kept telling me on her first day that she was going to end up in China if we didn’t watch her! The tide kept dragging her down the beach but she couldn’t have cared less! She loved it and this kid doesn’t quit until you make her! Every time I looked for her she was in the water with the board! Susan says her favorite activity when at home is gymnastics! I imagine she is a little dynamo in whatever activity she tries as she has more energy than she knows what to do with.

Bryson also loves the water, but his favorite activity is swimming! He was always out in the water with our grandkids, Taylor and Talan! I rarely saw him actually sitting on the beach! He is a true water lover! He is the oldest and is a super sweet kid! Susan says he is an adventurous joker! I’m sure he kept Taylor and Talan entertained all week with his humor and I know he loved swimming with both! He is going to be a heartbreaker! What a cutie!

Caed is the youngest and seemed awfully shy at first but he eventually warmed up to me! This is the cutest kid and so adorable that you just want to hug him! Watching him on the beach was an absolute riot! He loves the sand! This kid stuck his face in the sand and then proceeded to plow his way through it on his face! Forward he went and then backward! He had sand in his eyelashes, all over his face and in his hair! And when he was finished he came over to Susan and said, “Look at me”!

When I heard Devin had invited another family to come with us, I wondered how it would go. It is always worrisome when you think about going on vacation with people you don’t know! My worries were unfounded! Susan and Andrew are a wonderful couple and wonderful parents! I love that they were able to come spend their vacation with us! And they too love the beach! I asked Susan what their favorite activities are and she said swimming and skiing! They came on vacation with the right family! It was so obvious how much the Temple family loves spending time with the Holmes family!!

When I started thinking about writing about this family for my blog, I wondered whether I should mention Sophie’s medical condition. Susan gave me permission to as she wanted to promote awareness. Sophie was diagnosed last fall with type 1 diabetes and while they had a great time, Susan and Andrew were constantly monitoring her glucose levels. This kid played so ferociously all day that it was hard for them to keep her levels up! But Sophie is a little warrior and doesn’t let it stop her! Susan and Andrew are truly diligent parents who keep constant watch over her.

They finished their last night with a photo session and while I love photographing families, my favorite part of the session is letting the kids take a break and letting mom and dad have some time together! Susan and Andrew’s portraits together are amazing! I’m so in love with their images! And I found out during the session that Andrew was a cheerleader in college! He has skills! I hope the Temples look back on their vacation at Topsail Beach, NC with many happy memories for years to come! Sophie said her vacation ended perfectly! She saw dolphins and a rainbow on their last full day at the beach! Enjoy!
