This week on the blog I’m highlighting another vendor from my Casually Elegant Styled Shoot! Please welcome Pam Davis from PD’s Genuine Beauties! Pam consulted with both Salim and Wendy to create their looks for the styled shoot! I couldn’t have been happier when I saw both of them as their makeup was perfection!
I stopped by the MK studio to meet up with Pam and get some headshots! I was overwhelmed with the space and did more than just a headshot!
Mary Kay has been a consistent name in my life for a very long time. I have used Mary Kay products ever since high school. I’ve tried other products before, but I was always drawn to Mary Kay products. Not only because they are of high quality, but because of the “golden rule” service and the relationship that I built with my consultant. Though these qualities were part of the reason I chose to use the brand for all of my adult life, it’s only part of the story behind my “why”….why did I decide to start a Mary Kay business?
I am not a natural-born salesperson. I worked in ladies’ fashion retail through high school and college and swore that I would not do that for a career. While I enjoyed fashion and beauty, it wasn’t what motivated me. However, I knew that helping others, in a positive way, “filled my cup”. It’s what motivated me, and drove me to be my best. That’s why I became an educator. It’s also part of the reason for my starting a Mary Kay business.
The other part of my “why” has to do with something beyond the school walls…..empowerment. I’ve always wanted to own my own business, but figuring out the “what” and the “how” were the hurdles. I knew that I wanted to do something after leaving education, but what? Driving to work one morning, 2 years ago, the revelation hit me. What I was looking for was something that had been a part of my world my whole adult life. I knew about the Mary Kay opportunity but just had not seized it. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Everything that motivates me is what Mary Kay is about: helping others, building positive relationships, educating others on self-care, and empowering womens’ lives. The fact that I already believed in the product made my decision a no-brainer.
Establishing a positive client-consultant relationship through “golden rule” service is the cornerstone of my business. It is the “golden rule” service that sets Mary Kay apart from all other cosmetic brands. When I meet a new client, my focus is on meeting their skincare and/or cosmetic needs, and helping them achieve a look that compliments them, and meets their comfort level, and fits their lifestyle.
The wonderful thing about the Mary Kay beauty “experience” is that clients can “try before buying”, to encourage experimenting with different looks, particularly when the client is looking for a new or different look. Through continual company-provided professional learning, I provide guidance on product choice, usage, and application to my clients. Identifying the right products for clients’ specific needs is the ultimate goal, even if it means a “trial and error” process. Mary Kay makes this easy with their 100% satisfaction or money-back guarantee on their products, which is another quality that sets this product apart from the competition.
Teaching and coaching my clients through how to apply products-both skincare and color cosmetics- is the fun part for me. It’s truly important that my clients know how to use the product for themselves….that is the whole point behind self-care. Knowing that I’ve helped my client achieve their end goal with skincare, or a color look, makes it worth my while.
Thank you Pam For Helping Achieve These Looks!!

Great idea to spotlight vendors!
Such a cool shoot. What a boss babe!
I love her sign, your makeup will never be a 10 if your skin care is a 2! So fascinating learning how other vendors started their businesses. Thanks for the spotlight!
