Seneca Lake Wedding in Gladys Virginia

I am so excited to share Emily & Derek’s Wedding at Seneca Lake in Gladys, Virginia! The day started overcast and I worried it would rain. It actually did a little after the first look but it cleared off when the ceremony started and we had a bright sunny afternoon!

One thing I like to do is ask my couples if they will have handwritten vows as I want to take a picture of them! Derek said he needed paper as his vows were on his phone but he wanted to write them out. I went to my car and searched until I found a pad of paper so he could do that. I loved including these in their detail shots!

First Looks

Emily chose to have a first look with not only Derek but with her Dad as well! So, I got her Dad ready and brought a gorgeous Emily out! As expected, her Dad teared up when he saw his baby girl! It was such a sweet moment between the two of them!

Next up was the first look between Emily and Derek! I knew both of them would get emotional while reading their vows. It really seemed to hit both of them while reading what today meant!

After the first look we started their portraits and I’m so in love with these! Seneca Lake has wonderful views and the overhead clouds seemed to know how much they would play a part in their portraits!

Their Ceremony

Their ceremony was incredibly sweet and I always love to listen to the officiants talk about marriage! It always reminds me how incredibly important it is to put your spouse first and to always work things out! It is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day!

The Reception

Emily & Derek’s reception was a blast! It had most of the traditions you would expect but Emily and Derek added a few twists that made it super fun for their guests! It was pretty humid so the cake was put away in the freezer until time to cut it but it was frozen. They had quite the time trying to cut a frozen cake and it almost took a nose dive on the table!

Next was the shoe game which I always find incredibly funny! At one point Derek just didn’t want to admit who was boss! He held out but eventually admitted he knew who was.

Emily’s dad has a convertible and she decided to throw the bouquet from the backseat of the car. It was one of the best bouquet tosses I’ve seen.

And finally the sparkler exit! I loved doing this at sunset! It led to really gorgeous clouds in the background!
