This week I’m sharing Kayla & Jordan’s Engagement Session at River Walk Park, Rock Hill, South Carolina. Jordan proposed to Kayla this past Christmas and I’m so happy for them! Kayla is my niece on my husband’s side of the family, so I’m incredibly excited to share their engagement session. And I can’t wait for their wedding next weekend. My husband Michael has a large family and they love getting together so this wedding should be truly epic!
I’ve watched Kayla go from a college student to a well intentioned woman who knows what she wants. So when Jordan stayed in the picture longer than a couple of months, I had a sneaky suspicion he was the one. After meeting him and spending time with him, I know why Kayla loves him. He’s lots of fun and easy going! And I knew he made himself a part of the family when he called my husband Uncle Michael. It just made my heart happy.
Jordan and Kayla didn’t want to wait long to marry so their engagement is a short one. When they called and asked me to photograph their wedding, they told me if I couldn’t fit an engagement session in before the wedding, it was okay. No, no, I told them, I’ll find a weekend that works.
Their first location was Glencairn Garden in Rock Hill but it had a deluge of prom goers who had the same idea. So we headed to their 2nd location, River Park. I thought we were doomed because, there was a mass exit of cars leaving the park. It worked out perfectly though as we had the park to ourselves.
Kayla and Jordan wanted their dog Lottie included in their session and she did extremely well! My sister and brother-in-law came along to help with Lottie so I could get some photos of them without Lottie. At the end of the session we took her down to the creek that runs into the river and she was in heaven running in and out of the water! What a sweet girl!
I finished their session, hugged everyone goodbye and headed to sister’s to start uploading images! After all the difficulty getting the session started, I have to say all their images are fabulous!
As always, I share what my couple say about each other and their engagement. I had Kayla and Jordan fill out my questionnaire and here are my favorite responses!
Kayla’s favorite quality of Jordan is: “His determination and intellect. He motivates and challenges me, even when I don’t want it! LOL!” And Jordan’s favorite quality of Kayla is: “She’s very smart and just genuinely looks out for my best interest. I’m very spontaneous and off the cuff and she keeps me grounded. She’s very detail oriented where I’m not, so she balances me perfectly.”
I asked what their favorite thing is about the day they met and this is their response: “We were celebrating a mutual friends birthday, did not know each other, but were quickly drawn to each other throughout the evening.”
And finally, I asked them about the day Jordan proposed. Kayla’s response: “We were in Virginia with family for Christmas. Jordan took me out to see Christmas lights. Unbeknownst to me, my mom, dad, and Uncle Kevin were waiting for us at the Jefferson Hotel. According to them, I walked right past them. Jordan popped the question in front of the huge Christmas tree. I was shocked and surprised and many strangers starting clapping for us. Afterwards, we went and found a little restaurant downtown Richmond and celebrated with food and drinks.”
