Kayla & Jordan’s Wedding

June 12, 2024

At The Historic Robertson Homestead

Kayla & Jordan’s Wedding at the Historic Robertson Homestead was so fun! You would never guess by looking at the house from the outside just how gorgeous it is on the inside! I love old homes and antiques so seeing the inside of this venue was incredible! It has been painstakingly preserved and it does not disappoint. I can see why Kayla and Jordan chose it.

My sister, Shara and I arrived to find Kayla and her bridesmaids hanging out in the sunroom getting hair and makeup done! Jordan and his groomsmen were lounging in the groom’s suite enjoying the AC. Sunday was hot with a temperature of 90 degrees so I decided that I would do all the bride’s getting ready photos inside.

Unfortunately, I could not do that for the guys. I promised Jordan and his groomsmen, that I would keep them in the shade as much as I could and I would work quickly! They happily accommodated me and I got some great photos outside. I quickly sent them back to the groom’s suite to cool off.

When it was Kayla’s turn, I decided I wanted her getting portraits upstairs in the bedroom. I knew when I saw this room, I had to use it as much as I could. Kayla’s portraits are some of my favorites. I gushed to her and my SIL, Karen how excited I was with them. Kayla was beautiful, the room was gorgeous and I was giddy with what I was seeing on the back of my camera!

After finishing up her portraits, it was time for the first touch with Jordan. Kayla & Jordan’s first touch was sweet and I left the two of them alone for a couple minutes so they could speak to each other in private. The first looks with her brother, MJ and her dad, Mike were next. First looks are so fun for me as I love seeing the reaction the bride gets when their family members turn around! MJ and Mike’s reaction to Kayla was epic! MJ teared up when he saw Kayla and Mike wrapped her in a big hug.

The ceremony was fast approaching so Shara and I hurried to grab ceremony and reception detail shots. Afterwards, I took my place at the front to wait for Kayla. Family weddings are fun because I get to hear what my family has to say during and after the wedding. Our daughter, Kiersten told me I looked like the Ninja body guard at the front with my cameras! I’ve never been told that before and I laughed when she said it!

Our son-in-law, Trey, aka the family pastor as he calls himself, performed the ceremony. I love listening to him. He does an incredible job and Kayla & Jordan’s wedding was no exception. He read vows that Kayla and Jordan had written for each other, spoke about marriage and then led Kayla and Jordan through their declaration of intent and the ring exchange! Trey then pronounced them man and wife and told Jordan to kiss his bride! Always my favorite part and I had instructed them to take their time on the kiss!

Afterwards, we headed off for the rest of the formal shots I needed and on to the reception! Although the day was hot, I was able to capture some beautiful portraits of Kayla and Jordan. And I loved watching the two of them during their first dance and Kayla’s dance with her dad!

I finished off their night with a sparkler event and Kayla and Jordan thanked me profusely for documenting their day!

Jordan we are ecstatic to welcome you to the family and Congratulations to both of you! I hope you will have many many years of happiness together! And a special thank you to my sister for assisting me all day without complaint and to my husband who graciously 2nd shot for me!
