Joyful, Loving, and Full of Life

There’s something so special about capturing a couple who is truly joyful and loving! Emilie and James‘s Blackrock Summit Engagement Session is exactly that! From the moment I met them, it was clear how much laughter, warmth, and affection fills their relationship.

They are proud parents to Letty (10) and Jaxon (7), and their family wouldn’t be complete without their furry friends. Bear, a Great Pyrenees, Stella, a hound, and two cats, Lucy and Bubbles round out their sweet family. Their home is full of love, activity, and, apparently, a little bit of fur, too!

Unique Stories and Shared Passions

One of my favorite parts of wedding photography is learning more about my couples. Emilie spent a year in London working with Team Thailand during the 2012 equestrian Olympics. WOW! Today she works as a home health CNA — someone who genuinely cares for others every day. James started his own business at 21 and now works as a welder and transporter.

Together, they share a love for the beach, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and plenty of fun hobbies — from fishing and hunting to spending time with their chickens! Given their adventurous, outdoorsy lifestyle, it made perfect sense that they chose Blackrock Summit for their engagement session. The rugged trails and sweeping views provided a stunning backdrop that reflected their passions and personalities perfectly.

What They Love About Each Other

They shared sweet insights about each other, too. Emilie admires that James is “the most thoughtful and kind person,” while James loves that Emilie “loves taking care of our family.” Engagement for them has been a joyful time of planning their dream wedding and doing everything together as a team.

Their engagement story is just as heartwarming as their session. They got engaged two days after Valentine’s Day, following months of planning and conversation about their future together. And while Emilie might have had a hunch it was coming, the moment was full of love, excitement, and laughter — exactly the kind of memories we love to capture during an engagement session.
