A Beautiful Day at Valley Mills Farm

McKenzi and Devin’s Valley Mills Farm wedding in Swoope, Virginia was nothing short of magical. The venue’s rolling landscape and peaceful river views created the perfect backdrop for their heartfelt celebration.

Rain had been in the forecast leading up to their big day, but McKenzi wasn’t taking any chances! She buried sausages after hearing it was good luck for keeping the rain away. And believe it or not, it worked! The skies stayed clear, and their outdoor ceremony overlooking the river went spectacularly!

Sweet First Looks Before the Ceremony

Before the ceremony, McKenzi and Devin shared the sweetest first look surrounded by the beauty of the farm. The moment was full of emotion and excitement, and it set the tone for the rest of the day. After that, they had a first look together with their wedding party and McKenzi’s brothers. It was such a fun, joy-filled moment that had everyone smiling and celebrating before the ceremony even began.

A Handcrafted Ceremony Filled with Meaning

When it came time for the ceremony, McKenzi’s two brothers walked her down the aisle to meet Devin, who was anxiously waiting for her. Their officiant, Devin’s stepdad Rusty, made the ceremony especially personal by speaking about the long history of lasting marriages in their family. A true legacy of love and commitment that Devin and McKenzi are now carrying forward. It was such a touching moment and a beautiful reminder of what the day was all about.

Their ceremony setup was absolutely stunning, featuring a handcrafted wedding arch made by a family member who also created all of their florals. Every detail was beautifully done and filled with love. My sister, also my second photographer, told them that the arch was “more elaborate than what you normally see!” I couldn’t agree more! It was gorgeous and such a meaningful personal touch to their ceremony space.

Riverside Portraits & Timeless Moments

McKenzi was absolutely stunning — truly one of the most gorgeous brides! Her joy and calm spirit radiated through every moment, and together she and Devin were the sweetest couple.

Before and after the ceremony, we took portraits down by the river, and they are some of my favorites. The light, the laughter, and the connection between these two made every photo feel timeless.
