Kristin & Ryan Engaged

I’m so excited to share Kristin & Ryan’s Welsh Run Farm Engagement Session! This hidden gem is a new wedding venue north of Charlottesville. The owner Robin is an old friend of mine and she graciously allowed us to use the farm. I scheduled a visit with Robin and immediately fell in love! The property is a photographer’s paradise. On the day of Kristin and Ryan’s session, I kept finding great light and great backdrops that I hadn’t noticed on my first visit.

Kristin and Ryan contacted me a couple of months ago when they were looking for a photographer for their upcoming wedding in September! I scheduled a call and loved speaking with them. They told me they had two boys, Addison and Truitt and wanted to include them in their engagement session.

We had to reschedule their original session to the following weekend as we had a heat wave. I’m so happy we did as the weather was perfect! I took Michael with me for the session so he could help entertain the boys while I did photos of Kristin and Ryan.

I told Kristin that I like to think I’m in charge of the session but I know I’m not. Their children would be. I tell parents when I do family sessions that we will take breaks as their children need but their boys were the absolute best! Every time I prompted Addison, he gave me a huge smile and kept saying cheese!

I asked Kristin and Ryan to fill out a questionnaire so I could get to know them. One of my questions is what their favorite quality is about their fiancé. Kristin says her favorite qualities about Ryan are his strength and kindness. Ryan says his favorite qualities about Kristin are how passionate she is about anything she sets her heart on and the way she cares about her boys and students.

I also asked what their favorite thing about being engaged is. Kristin says “He’s my high school sweetheart. I think when we met we knew it was a forever thing. We started our family before taking more time for us. I think we are allowing ourselves time to date again and do something for ourselves.” Ryan says his favorite thing is “Knowing I get to spend forever with my best friend!”
