Kayla and Chris chose to have their wedding at Wolftrap farm and it was an absolutely gorgeous day there! The leaves are changing and it made for a beautiful backdrop but I’m not sure anyone would have noticed given how beautiful the bride and her bridesmaids were!
I knew it was going to be a good day after seeing Kayla’s dress! Michael and I attended their rehearsal to get a feel for the venue and she let me see it before leaving for the evening. I nearly did a happy dance on my way out the door and went home daydreaming about photographing it! And that is exactly what I started with Saturday morning. I love photographing details – the dress, the invitation, the rings…. It makes me happy!
And, I of course love getting to know my couple. Kayla is the perfect bride! She was easy going all day and never seemed to be stressed. I love that! It makes my job so much easier. But what really surprised me was how entertaining Chris was. I didn’t realize that, but he reminds me of Michael who is always telling me he is jocular and always leaves me rolling my eyes. Michael says his day isn’t complete until I roll my eyes at something he has done or said. I’ve got a feeling Kayla probably rolls hers at Chris too! You’ll see some of that in the groomsmen’s photos and his and Kayla’s exit from their ceremony! Her face is perfect, so be sure to find those when you look at their photos!
Chris and Kayla weren’t planning on doing a first look but I persuaded them to do one. I was worried that we might not have enough light for Bride and Groom portraits after their ceremony and I’m hoping that they loved it! It was so incredibly sweet to see Chris’s reaction to her and then her reaction to him. We got some beautiful images! Some people worry that the groom’s reaction when he sees his bride coming down the aisle won’t be the same but I can promise you they still get just as emotional.
And by the way the the bride’s bouquet was so stunning, I could have brought it home with me and taken pictures of it for days! So be sure to look for it too!
I hope you will love their images just as much as I do!

Awww what a beautiful wedding day! I love the fact that they had pashmina scarves at the reception for guests if they got cold! What a unique idea!
Jen, it was! And the scarves were put to good use that evening!!
