Since Sydney and Eric’s wedding is this week, I thought it was about time I shared their engagement images! This session was truly stunning. I cannot believe I haven’t already shared Sydney & Eric’s Engagement Session at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden!
When I first started in photography, I took classes at UVA to learn the basics. One of my first field trips with my class was to Lewis Ginter to shoot in the conservatory. I’ve come a long way since then so Sydney and Eric choosing Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for their engagement session was a thrill for me!
Sydney is a huge plant enthusiast and has over 400 house plants! It’s awe-inspiring to someone who has trouble keeping a couple of houseplants alive. Seriously, how do you keep 400 house plants watered and in the right climate so they flourish? So Lewis Ginter was perfect for them, although I think Sydney was a little disappointed I couldn’t photograph them in the conservatory.
One of my favorite parts of writing my client’s blogs is to share what they write about themselves in the questionnaire. I asked about their pets, and they have 3 dogs and 3 cats. I’d say this makes them huge animal lovers. Sydney let me know one of their dogs will be at their wedding. I can’t wait to meet one of their fur babies. They all have unique names but my favorites are 2 of the cats, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.
I asked Sydney her favorite qualities of Eric and she said, “Eric is very caring and dedicated.” Eric’s favorite qualities of Sydney are her passion for her hobbies. I asked what their favorite thing about being engaged is and Sydney said, “Trying on dresses and looking forward to my forever”. Eric said “Knowing that my love is mutual.” Next was, what is your Favorite thing about the day you met? Sydney said “Eric had cat hair dangling from his chin because he kissed his cats before going on our first date. I didn’t tell him until months later.” While he might find it a little embarrassing that I’m sharing that, I think it might have sealed the deal for Sydney!
I normally send my clients an Engagement Style guide to help them prepare for their session. Before their session, I follow up and ask if they need any help choosing outfits or locations. When I asked Sydney, she told me she would send me what she was thinking for her. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was to see her choices. She truly nailed their outfits and her dress choices were stunning. I couldn’t stop myself from telling her and Eric again and again how great they were! I always wonder if the guide is helpful and I got my answer when she told me she was going for the Romantic Style!
