Finding the Right Location

Finding great portrait session locations can be perplexing if not downright overwhelming! But I’ve got tips to help you find the perfect location! Most clients choose to showcase the local landscape of Virginia and who can blame them. Virginia is beautiful and has so many options!

For most of my sessions, outdoor, open-air environments are always my first choice. I love shooting in open natural spaces because the light is gorgeous, especially during golden hour. There are great options all around the state! So even if you’ve never seen me photograph in a specific spot before, I’m always up for exploring a new spot together!

Think Outside the Box

This is the time to think outside the box! Think about locations where you love to spend your free time or locations that have special meaning to you, your family, or your significant other! Maybe you, or someone in your personal or professional network, can secure permission to a location that would otherwise be off-limits. Some examples are beautiful private estates, country clubs, or resorts. Or, maybe it’s a family farm, lake, mountain overlook, beach, vineyard, or upscale hotel. A boat or a rooftop view would be truly unique. The sky is literally the limit! Spend some time thinking about it and checking around. You’ll be surprised with what you come up with. Plus, if something seems out of reach, just remember: you never know until you ask! Destination Portrait Session

Your portrait session includes travel time anywhere in the Charlottesville area. I’m happy to shoot anywhere within sixty miles of my home in Albemarle county and that is included in the price of your session. Also, the following local counties are within that travel distance – Fluvanna, Green, Louisa, Buckingham, Nelson, Augusta, and Orange! I’m always looking for new locations to photograph and am up for an adventure so I don’t limit my travel. If you would like a location out of the area, let me know! For an additional travel fee, I’m happy to go wherever you have in mind. I’ve photographed sessions from the beach to the mountains and many places in between. So if I’m already going to be in or near an area you’ve always dreamed of doing your photos, let’s coordinate our schedules. I’m all about making it work!
