Planning a wedding is time-consuming! Adding one more thing to your to-do list like engagement photos can make you wonder why you should. There are many reasons to schedule one but do you realize how it can benefit you, especially on your wedding day? Not only do I believe they are crucial but I think you should book engagement photos with your wedding photographer. Let me explain!

Spend Time Together

The first reason is it allows you to spend some time with your photographer! They can get to know you and you can get to know them before your big day! Wouldn’t it be really awkward to have a photographer show up the morning of your wedding, invade your space and you’ve never spent any time with them before? Spending time together before the wedding allows you to become comfortable with each other and that leads to trust. You want to trust your photographer because you have enough to worry about already!

Practice Before The Wedding

The second reason is you learn your photographer’s posing techniques and lets you practice before your wedding! This allows your photographer to figure out what poses are your best as well as how you two interact together. Your wedding day is not where I want to try to figure that out and I want you to already be comfortable in front of my camera. This in turn speeds up bride and groom portraits since you are familiar with your photographer’s cues and poses. And they already know what flattering poses work best for you!

If You Aren’t Happy

If you aren’t happy with your engagement photos you have time to address this with your photographer before your wedding. Or, choose another photographer if you truly don’t think they are the best fit.

Engagement Session Included

Your wedding package may include engagement photos! I personally include a complimentary engagement session in my wedding packages. My reason for this is because I think it that vital to your wedding day! I want to meet you before the wedding so we both will feel comfortable with each other. Sure, I could meet you the day of but wouldn’t it be less awkward if it felt like a friend was showing up the morning of? I want my clients to be completely comfortable with me especially since this is one of the biggest days of your life. And, I want to serve you in the best way I can!

Book engagement photos with your wedding photographer because your engagement is short compared to the length of your marriage. And you should celebrate it! It is an incredibly special time and engagement photos allow you to capture your special love story!
